BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:25 P.M.) – A sleeper cell belonging to the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) carried out a special operation recently that targeted a high ranking commander of the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA).
According to the official media office of the YPG, their sleeper cell assassinated the Free Syrian Army commander, Mohammad Suleiman, inside the Afrin region recently.
The YPG media office said their fighters ambushed his vehicle near the town of Bilbil on July 7th, then proceeded to shoot him in the head.
Below is the video that was released by the YPG on Tuesday:
Despite losing the Afrin region to the Turkish backed forces, the YPG has kept many sleeper cells active in this part of the Aleppo Governorate.
The YPG sleeper cells have been actively harassing the Free Syrian Army and their allies around Afrin, which has prompted the latter to beef up their security in the region.
