The predominately Kurdish “People’s Protection Units” (YPG) carried out an assault inside the Al-Wasta District of Al-Qamishli tonight, killing 1 Assyrian member of the Gozarto Protection Forces (GPF) and wounding 3 other bystanders.

The fallen member of the Gozarto Protection Forces was identified as Gabi Henry Dawoud of Al-Qamishli – he was a member of the Assyrian “Sootooro forces” that were protecting the city of Al-Qamishli in the Al-Hasakah Governorate’s northern countryside.

According to a source from the Gozarto Protection Forces in Al-Qamishli, the YPG carried out a surprise night attack in the Al-Wasta District, prompting both sides to engage in a bloody battle for a little over an hour.

The source added that 3 YPG fighters were reportedly killed; however, he was unable to confirm whether or not this was 100% accurate.

Tensions have intensified between the Kurdish and Assyrian populations of Al-Qamishli as of late; this is due in large part to the terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 13 Assyrians two weeks ago.

Many Assyrians in Al-Qamishli believe that the Kurds inside the city had worked side-by-side with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) terrorists that carried out the heinous attack on the Miami Cafe in the city’s downtown area.

  1. This is hard for me because I support the Kurds against the Turk and Islamic fascists but I also support the Syrian lads so I am in a bit of a middle ground here ye know

    • The Kurds are just a proxy tool of the US and it’s allies so seperate the nations in smaller states to keep them weak. Just like they have done in the past in Western Asia.

    • Hamza I do not agree if it were the case the Kurds would have ultimate firepower to take on their aggressors and the backing of their allies. But Turkey is one of the only stable nations that America can rely on so they will not upset the apple cart there, also if you look through the last say 60 years the Kurds have been given help from countless and even surprising nations depending on the geopolitical timescale.

    • Do you really believe such a crap Mr. Sergeo? This is a biased and untrustworthy media. I haven’t seen any other page posting about such an accident and if you read the news clearly you would know it’s a lie. How could the YPG loose more fighters if they do a surprising attack? lol if it wasn’t for the YPG, those Assyrians will be all dead by now. They are even trained by the YPG and what Assyrian population is this page talking about? Qamishli is almost 95% kurdish, even all Al-Hassakah government has a 70% to 75% Kurdish population. You can read that by yourself in Wikipedia. You also can read about the Arabic Belt, which how Assad tried to Arabify those kurdish lands.

Clearly these GPF forces are a little too on edge or are trying to stir up trouble with the Kurdish. Because I seriously doubt they honestly believe that unless they were fed some hefty propaganda by the Turks. I hope tensions cool soon.

    • Well, those maps of oil trade between ISIS and Turkey that the Russians released after Turkey shot down the Russian plane showed some of the routes going through Kurdish territory. So maybe ISIS and the Kurds (or at least some of them) do have “understandings” about certain things that don’t get made public…

  3. I been saying a long while now the real worry is not isis,no one will blame the SAA or Assad for killing them, but these oportunistic kurdish rats may create a real civil war if the US exploits them and this seems to be transpiring now ,the yanks are trying to use them and brainwash them with promises,,been warning about this prediction and now it’s happening
