BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:10 P.M.) – Video footage (below) has emerged showing pro-government Syrian-Palestinian fighters of the Al-Quds Brigade (Liwa al-Quds) engaged in heavy combat with Jaysh al-Islam militants near the east Damascus district city of Douma.
During the battle for Douma, Al-Quds Brigade assault units acted in support of the Syrian Army’s elite Tiger Forces Division, storming the city from the western and southern directions.
Contrary to popular belief, Al-Quds Brigade fighters served in a frontline role, actually leading tactical-level assaults in some areas and securing the flanks of the Tiger Forces Division’s main line of advance elsewhere.
The East Ghouta offensive marks the first time that both the Tiger Forces Division and Liwa al-Quds have ever undertaken an operation in the vicinity of the Syrian capital.
