BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:15 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army achieved an important advance in the battle against the Islamic State on Wednesday, as their forces liberated the terrorist group’s last pocket in the eastern countryside of the Hama Governorate.
Led by the 4th Mechanized Division and Qalamoun Shield forces, the Syrian Arab Army advanced from the recently liberated town of Abu Hanaya towards the last ISIS pocket in the Salamiyah District.
Within hours of launching this attack, the Syrian Arab Army was able to liberate several villages and expel the remaining Islamic State terrorists to the Homs Governorate’s provincial border with Hama.
Video footage of this advance was released by Hezbollah’s official media wing on Wednesday; it shows the Syrian Army liberating the ISIS-occupied areas.
The Syrian Arab Army will now attempt to clear the remaining areas occupied by the Islamic State in the Homs Governorate.
