The Syrian Arab Army recaptured the strategic hill of Tal al-Harrah, in the northwestern countryside of Daraa.
Footage from Tuesday shows Syrian government forces on the recaptured territory and the Syrian flag hoisted over the hill.
The area, over 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) in altitude and strategically important for observing the nearby territory of Daraa and Quneitra, was liberated by pro-Syrian government forces from Jabhat al-Nusra militants along with the villages of Kafr Shams, Um al-Awsaj, al-Taiha and Zamrin in northwestern Daraa province, according to the SANA news agency.
The newly liberated area of Daraa had been under the control of militant forces since 2014.
With the capture of Tal Al-Harrah, the Syrian Army can now shift their attention to the Al-Quneitra Governorate, where they hope to retake the border with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
