Around noon today, clashes resumed to Aleppo’s northern Layramoun neighborhood as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) pushed to capture the district.

Preliminary reports suggest several buildings have been captured by the SAA although the battle is unfolding as we speak.

Meanwhile, the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) ’16th Division’ and other Islamist groups are offering stiff resistance and seem all but willing to surrender the industrial district.

If the SAA is to capture the Layramoun neighbourhood, this would mark the initial phase of securing the highway which runs around the perimeter of Aleppo city.

Despite reports to the contrary, the SAA’s Tiger Forces are yet to entirely capture the Al-Mallah farms in northern Aleppo. If this rural area falls into government hands, Aleppo’s insurgents will have their final supply line to the city entirely cut off.
