DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:50 P.M.) – Hundreds of soldiers armed with tanks, armored and technical vehicles of the Syrian Army’s 9th Armoured Division arrived to the Syrian capital to take part in the long-awaited battle to liberate the rebel bastion in Eastern Ghouta.
The newly-arrived reinforcements are the Division’s elite storming battalion under the command of Colonel Niza Fandi. The battle-hardened soldiers substantially helped lifting the siege imposed by Ghouta rebels on the Army Vehicle Base last December.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Army continue to bomb Islamist militants positions and infrastructures in East Ghouta with rockets, artillery and airstrikes.
In response, rebels indiscriminately fire mortars; targeting residential areas of Damascus, claiming the lives of dozens of civilians including women and children.
