Earlier today, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defence Forces (NDF) launched a joint attack on the rebel-held village of al-Aslihah in western Sweida.

After clashing with fighters of ‘Jaish Ahrar Al-Ashaer’, local tribesmen loyal to Syrian Opposition, government troops were able to fully capture al-Aslihah shortly before noon.

The SAA arrested a number of militants during the capture and were quick to pose for pictures with the ‘wanted men’:

Al-Aslihah is located just 7 kilometers west of the provincial capital of Sweida and also posed a significant threat to the nearby Tha’lah Airbase, thereby making its capture strategically important.

Not surprisingly, the advance also prompted government soldiers to break out in celebration, as transpires below (volume warning):
