DAMASCUS, SYRIA (2:20 P.M.) – Defying US stark warning not to take part in southwest Syria offensive, the Russian Aerospace Forces have officially joint the Syrian Air Force in pounding positions for ultraconservative militants in the northeastern countryside of Daraa.
The aerial bombardment focused on jihadi-held villages and towns of the Lajat region of northeast Daraa province.
This was done in conjunction with the ground forces making substantial advance following fierce battles with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and other FSA-affiliated factions.
Yesterday, the Syrian Army, led by the elite Tiger Forces, managed to recapture 7 towns during massive advance in southwest Syria.
The current onslaught primarily aims at encircling and eventually liberating the rebel bastion of Busra al-Harir, located directly east of Izra’a.
Meanwhile, a military source denied reports about jihadists surrender. “Only a couple of factions affiliated with the so-called Free Syrian Army have expressed interest in initiating talks with the Syrian Army”, the source noted.
