DAMASCUS, SYRIA (7:55 P.M.) – Since the defeat and eventual evacuation of rebel groups from East Ghouta pocket, the Syrian security forces have been engaged in a wide-scale mop-up operation to fully secure the area before civilians can safely return to their homes.
In the process, the Syrian authorities have discovered several weapon caches in the towns of Yalda, Babila and Beit Sahm.
The seized weapons include mortar shells, hand grenades, RPGs, explosive devices, assault rifles and various kinds of ammunition.
According to a military source, the arms were carefully preserved and hidden so much that it would be very difficult to find.
In May, FSA-linked militants who for years controlled the three towns succumbed to an evacuation deal and left to the country’s north.
