BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:05 A.M.) – On Tuesday, the Free Syrian Army affiliate militia calling itself the 1st Coastal Division carried out an opportunistic missile attack against a position belonging to Syrian government forces in the northern countryside of Latakia province.
The militant missile team utilized an US-built TOW system, provided to their faction by either the American or Turkish (more likely) military support program for Syrian insurgent groups.
According to opposition sources, the rebel fighters engaged a Syrian Army heavy machine gun position atop Jabal (Mount) Kalaah, scoring (as the video below shows) a direct hit.
Whilst it is clear that the army position was neutralized, losses among the ranks of Syrian soldiers present in or near it is not clear. Rebel sources (who are usually quick to make inflated claims on government troop losses) have not released an account in this regard.
