Military correspondents embedded with Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) Qalamoun Shield Brigade published a new video footage showing soldiers of the brigade engaged in heavy firefights with militants of the so-called “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria” (ISIS) in the surroundings of T-4 Military Airport in the eastern part of Homs province. Government forces are supported by Russian attack helicopters and Syrian fighter jets. Video taken two days ago can be seen below:

Gosh, snow in the Syrian desert! Where is global warming?
Nevertheless, SAA should better distribute the Dragunovs or even higher calibers, i.e. .300winch-mag, 300ultra-mag, .338Lapua, .408CheyTac and equip them with AK-74U for close/mid range defence : assault-rifles and RPK are nearly useless in such large open areas. Better use snipers or marksman riffle… Too much spray’n’pray.

You are saying they have to lay down on the snow in order to use sniper riffle? Look at the pic. Soldiers keep their hands in the pockets. They rather need gloves.

Costly equipment though, but yes, second thing i see often is their single barrel DSHK heavy machinegun mounted on technicals, recoils so much that produces a lifting of the barrel after the first round, I doudt you can hit any moving target the size of a window beyond 800 m with such c**p machineguns, I wonder if a different mounting point closer to the muzzle may help even at cost of less side to side speed when pivoting the gun, to a lesser extent it also happens with heavier antiaircraft guns. NSV or KORD are way better, but again it… Read more »
