BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:30 P.M.) – The UK-based Channel 4 news group has released an exceptionally neutral 5-minute front-line report on Syrian Arab Army (SAA) forces fighting the ISIS terrorist group east of Palmyra. The video report appears to have been made just prior to the pro-government offensive on the al-Hayl gas field.
In the report, Channel 4 journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy provides a summary of how pro-government forces conduct their operations in central Syria and also interviews SAA soldiers belonging to a tank unit.
Most of the questions asked revolve around what the soldiers did as civilians prior to the conflict, how long they had been serving in the military and why they chose to volunteer.
Krishnan Guru-Murthy also comments on the presence of Russian, Iranian and Lebanese forces within the pro-government alliance. Nonetheless, he concedes that the main force acting against ISIS, on the ground, is in fact the SAA.
The front-line report by Channel 4 appears to be one of the most neutral reports provided by a Western mainstream media outlet to date regarding the role of Syrian pro-government forces in the fight against ISIS.
