Yesterday, the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) 104th Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard engaged in fierce close-quarter combat with the Islamic State’s militants in Syria’s eastern city of Deir Ezzor.
Footage from the Deir Ezzor enclave shows the SAA fending off ISIS attacks on the Al-Jafra and Hwaijat Saker districts. Commander-in-chief Major General Issam Zahreddine also commandeered his troops to repel another Islamic State assault on Deir Ezzor Airbase.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) also conducted several air raids over hostile jihadist fighters in the city and on its outskirts.
Deir Ezzor has been under siege for several years but is regularly supplied from the air.
