DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:36 P.M.) – Video footage emerged showing Syrian Army formations securing the former rebel stronghold of Mughr Al-Mir after jihadists withdrew from the town to the nearby Beit Jinn village.
Military engineering teams have already begun the process of dismantling all explosives and mines left behind by the terrorist groups before declaring the town safe for habitation and civilian commerce.
Once the reconciliation treaty takes full effect and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s (HTS) elements are relocated to Idlib province, the Syrian government will proclaim the entire Beit Jinn pocket under its dominion clearing yet again another dangerous insurgent-held stronghold in Damascus province.
The concentrated efforts of the Syrian Army’s 4th Division and Republican Guard have left the Damascus province with only two hostile pockets of jihadist resistance after militant presence was eradiacted in Khan al-Shih, Darayya, Muaddamiya, Al-Tal, Qudsiyya, Zabadani, Barada Valley, and Qaboun district of Damascus.
With the conclusion of the military operations in the Golan Heights of west Damascus, the 4th Division will now be free to re-mobilize for another decisive operation in Damascus: the long-awaited battle to expel ISIS from Yarmouk Camp located a few kilometers south of downtown Damascus.
