DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:40 P.M.) – The Syrian forces continue to engage in fierce battles against the Islamic State in the stretching desert region of eastern Syria, liberating large swathes of territories and eliminating more militants.
Yesterday, the government troops ambushed a group of ISIS jihadists while moving around near Sukhnah. Clashes broke out for a short time before the Syrian Army manages to kill all the militants, seize their weapons and transportation.
Meanwhile, the government forces were capable of scoring a substantial advance in the eastern Homs countryside, liberating up to 1200 km2 of territory. The latest advance was achieved from the May’zlah area to the Fidat bin Muwayna region.
