BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:05 A.M.) – The Russian Strategic Missile Forces have recently carried out what sources are calling a ‘massive’ military exercise in the country’s eastern Ural region.

Video footage (below) provided by Rupty gives insight into part of the huge exercise that took place. It can be seen that specialized Russian infantry were tasked with defending a mobile ballistic missile unit from OPFOR (opposite force) troops during a theoretical infiltration scenario.

According to Russia Today, the maneuver involved 10,000 troops and one thousand vehicles of the Omsk, Orenburg and Vladimir rocket armies; new weapon systems are said to have been tested.

Russia’s nuclear doctrine resolves heavily around the use of mobile intercontinental ballistic missile launchers. Because of this, Russia has created a special forces service for the protection of its most precious military resource – strategic nuclear weapons.
