DAMASCUS, SYRIA (2:45 P.M.) – The Russian warplanes have delivered deadly airstrikes on jihadi-held areas of rural Idlib in retaliation for rebels’ violation of ceasefire through attacking two besieged towns yesterday.
The towns of Binnish, Barouma and Sawaghiyah, where the attack against Fouaa and Kafraya was initiated from, came under heavy aerial bombardment that targeted positions, headquarters and fortifications for the ultraconservative militants.
Jihadi groups, spearheaded by Uzbek and Turkistan militants, launched an assault against the two Shiite towns, killing 6 of the defenders.
Meanwhile, local activists reported that scores of civilians furiously took the streets in several jihadi-held towns and villages, blaming the militants for the deadly Russian airstrikes following Fouaa and Kafraya assault.
The protestors called on jihadists not to attack the Shiite towns again or leave their villages to avoid future strikes.
