DAMASCUS, SYRIA (1:50 P.M.) – Dozens of jihadi militants have been killed and injured as the Syrian and Russian air force conducted non-stop airstrikes in central and northwest Syria.
According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the Syrian and Russian fighter jets and helicopters have conducted more than 140 sorties since yesterday, targeting positions and infrastructure for the rebel groups in Idlib and north Hama countryside.
The fierce aerial campaign began when the rebel groups – led by al-Qarda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham – conducted a surprise offensive against Syrian Army positions in northern Hama countryside.
The assault turned costly for the rebel groups which had lost scores of commanders as well as militants in the failed attack. A pro-rebel social media sources reported that at least 25 jihadists from the Turkistan Islamic Party were killed in Tal Bzam attack.
