BEIRUT, LEBANON (04:48 P.M.) – An RT crew came across the bodies of dead Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers in hilly terrain outside the recently liberated city of Palmyra earlier this week.
Pro-government fighters say they found clear evidence of atrocities committed by the self-proclaimed Islamic State (ISIS) in these hills.
Some of the bodies were of SAA soldiers, killed when ISIS advanced into Palmyra in December last year. The corpse of one Syrian soldier had also been beheaded by the terrorist group.
The presence of landmines and a lack of resources will for now prevent the SAA from searching the desert to find the remains of more troops.
