DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3: 10 P.M.) – An improvised explosive device planted in a motorcycle exploded inside the rebel-held city of Idlib as tensions escalate among rival jihadi groups.
The blast killed 5 militants from the ‘security force’ of al-Qaeda-affiliate Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, and injured 10 others.
The attack comes one week after the group (formerly known as Jabhet al-Nusra) was caught in heavy infighting with the FSA-affiliated Shaitat group. Elsewhere in Maarrat al-Numan to the south, HTS jihadists stormed bases for Division 13; an opposition action fighting under the banner of the Free Syrian Army.
Meanwhile, HTS clashed with an ISIS sleeper cell in Idlib, killing and wounding its members.
