DAMASCUS, SYRIA (11:45 P.M.) – A platoon of Syrian assault troops came under heavy fire from the Failaq Al-Rahman, a branch of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), after running into what appeared to be an ambush on Tuesday.
The Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) elite Republican Guards stormed across upon devastated urban terrain with bullets whistling by their ears after being targeted by the FSA in Ayn Tarma. One soldier was shown gunned down, while a T-72 tank later moved across the site:
In addition to closely monitoring the SAA’s advances towards the residential areas of Ayn Tarma, Failaq Al-Rahman recorded its own militants in action against the government troops:
Despite some casualties, the 105th and 106th Brigades of the Republican Guard have momentum on their side in east Damascus after breaking through fortifications under insurgent control for five years.
The FSA operates shoulder-to-shoulder with Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) on the eastern Damascus battlefield. In total, this combined fighting force has sustained 400 deaths and injuries over the past 25 days.
