Aleppo, Syria (6:50 P.M.) – During a live broadcast with the Russian Defense Ministry on Tuesday, a Russian Marine and Syrian Arab Army (SAA) commander came under heavy gunfire along the Castillo Highway in northern Aleppo.
The SAA commander and Russian Marine were speaking to the Defense Ministry when a rebel group attacked the Russian forces that were positioned along the Castillo Highway.
No one was reportedly hurt; however, this attack raised concerns about the Syrian opposition’s level of commitment to the nationwide cease.
The Russia Today footage shows the two military personnel ducking after the sound of gunfire erupted near their positions.
Earlier today, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” withdrew 1 km north of the Castillo Highway in order to allow the Russian Marines replace their personnel at the checkpoints.
The Castillo Highway is supposed to be a demilitarized zone that is used to deliver humanitarian aid to the civilians in Aleppo; this is why the SAA withdrew 1 km north of the roadway.
