BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:57 P.M.) – Jaish al-Izza militants fighting in rural northern Hama have released a video of achieving a direct hit on Syrians Army soldiers.

In their media release, they claimed that over 150 casualties were sustained from the TOW missile attack that occurred on the Maarzaf front.

They claimed that Hezbollah were also in the gathering that sustained that shock attack.

However, Al-Masdar News correspondent, Ibrahim Joudeh, has disputed the figure made by the militants and said the casualty number is closer to about 20 Syrian Army soldiers.

Sadly the moral of this disaster is the necessity of discipline. In a combat zone:- Do not huddle in groups as in a school outing. Do not gather vehicles closely together for refueling and rearming. Do not stand around in the open. Staying alive requires hard work. Find cover where one can observe arcs of fire. Regulate the numbers being issued with supplies at any one time. Create ‘shell scrapes’ for short rest periods. Keep movement to a minimum. Operate a buddy system to cover your buddy doing personal admin chores. And so many more common sense actions that are… Read more »

I agree. This is a lack of discipline.SAA had a maximum of 4 dead and as many wounded. In this atack.150 casualties in single atack is impossibly.

Exactly, why on Earth would they huddle together as if they’re having a group chat… ON THE FRONTLINE?!?! This is truly one of the worst armies in the world.

No idea what their NCOs and officers told them. Obviously not the right things.

Sure they know all of this better than you. 5 years of continuous war. Obviously this wasn’t a ”combat zone” under fire. They were gathering for some purpose OUT of the firing zone where they didn’t expect to be attacked. Wich is normal. Nobody can be in a ”combat stace” or ”combat readyness” for 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. You should know TOW systems have a high range zone, maybe 8 km. This was probably an infiltration by a TOW team to attack SAA in their rear back. Please stop those nonsense comments like you internet warriors… Read more »

I am seems the soldiers like to die by TOW middle attack. Allepo was not enough for them to learn not to cluster. 20 soldiers is a very devastating number in times like these. These people should get some external instructor to guide them in the fronts.

Absolutely – hard work like proper conduct, team work and spirit, digging, hiding and marching make war less dangerous. And officers and NCO planing ahead while others are resting.

p.s. Obviously the officers and NCOs slept with open eyes.

RIP. And court-martial the NCOs and responsible officer for this mess. If they have survived. Plus put it into the trainings manual.

p.s. IMHO 150 is terrorist gross exaggeration but 80 or so out of action wounded or dead is bad enough and much to much.

A TOW can maybe mortal few (2-3) direct. TOW are made to destroy armor vehicle to burn the Armor and explode. Maybe they are 10 injury but never 150 death.

if YOU can see far, they can see you from far too..

also even against car-bomb-attack (happens many times against north-syria FSA)

gathering in order to launch attacks is completely normal! But, what is NOT, is not securing the area around them

The biggest problem here aside from the horrendously bad decision to gather out in the open like this, is the fact that these god d**n terrorist apes are supplied with TOW`s in the first place!!!

There are probably close to 20 dead, which I believe is less. One body cover blast to the other.
TOW range isn’t 8km but is 4km to 5km. This isn’t Russian kornet with 5-6 km range. Gathering in the open is NEVER a good option. In the frontline there should only gather commanders in close room, and there they should distribute commands of operation. Sneaky attack or not, it is still stupid to gather soldiers in the open.
