DAMASCUS, SYRIA (11:00 PM) – A massive explosion shook the rebel stronghold of Idlib late on Sunday, as a car bomb exploded within the city.

According to our sources, the explosion took place in the 30th district area of Idlib, a major city under control of Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly the Al-Nusra Front). The blow came from a parked car that was apparently loaded with explosives and caused massive damage to the area.

The explosive car was parked right next to a training base for members of the Caucasus Emirate, an Al-Qaeda affiliated terrorist organisation originating from Chechnya that has been providing foreign fighters for HTS for years.

Over 100 people are reported to have died in the enormous blast, which is considered one of the biggest explosions to ever have it the war-plagued city of Idlib, while at least 100 more people have been injured. While many casualties are militants of HTS and its affiliates, reports have it that also many civilians have been hit by the blast.

Below footage shows a CCTV video of the moment of the explosion.
