Idlib

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:55 P.M.) – Two jihadi militants were torn into pieces by an artillery strike made by the Syrian forces in southern Idlib in retaliation for Islamist insurgents’ recurrent breaches for the latest ceasefire.

The slain jihadists were making their own video while touring the town of Al-Tah, located in the eastern countryside of Maarat al-Numan in southern Idlib.

Al-Tah is currently under the control of the National Front for Liberation; a rebel coalition which is part of the so-called Syrian Free Army fighting the Syrian government forces in north and northwestern Syria.

The Syrian Army has recently extensively deployed surveillance drones to detect and track the militants’ positions and hideouts in the area.

Yesterday, jihadi groups in Idlib have breached the agreed-on ceasefire implemented since August 30 by attacking the Russian air base in Latakia with armed drones.

There is no ceasefire, nor has there ever been a ceasefire. Just stupid political games that are costing the lives of Syrian soldiers.

Those ceasefires spare the lives of Syrian soldiers. Work it out, it’s not that hard.

The ceasefires cost Syrian Army lives by allowing HTS to fortify it’s new positions, thus making it much harder to break through them.

However, it looks like the SAA is finished in southern Idlib for the time being and they are going to start a new offensive in west Aleppo. This is long over due and I hope the do just that.

Fortifications have not been a disproportionate issue for the SAA – they know how to deal with them, as we have seen time and again. Rapid advances are much more dangerous. Stretched supply lines, constant fluid situations in the front, and insufficient effort to secure taken areas would be a godsend to roaming ATGM teams and guerilla ambush tactics and small stay-behind suicide teams all of which HTS is more than capable of executing, any of which could result in huge losses to SAA for no good reason. So no, the ceasefires do not cost the Syrians more lives. Small… Read more »

Just equip vehicles with Trophy active protection system, and goodbye ATGMs. Even light APVs can have it, and there is also a turret with a 30mm gun and Spike ATGM that receives the system, so if you use an APV, Trophy LV protects front/back/sides while the turret would intercept what is coming from above and, at you detect from where it came, you can return fire.
