Although the East Ghouta rebel pocket is gradually diminishing, Islamist rebels are putting up a last-ditch effort in a desperate bid to keep control of rural areas east of Damascus.
In a newly surfaced video, militants of Jaish al-Islam (Army of Islam) face off with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) at Midaana village in the East Ghouta. In the middle of the video, a SAA tank appears close by, prompting the entrenched insurgents to tremble in fear.
