DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:30 P.M.) – A rare television report was aired by the Sanaa-based government on Friday where specialized elements of the Republican Guard and Houthi-led ‘Popular Committees’ were shown training for naval combat off the western coast of Yemen.
The footage depicted Houthi combattants maneuvering in speed boats, armed scuba divers swimming beneath the water and troops preparing to defend beaches along the Red Sea.

The video is linked to persistent rumours that the Saudi-led coalition intends to invade western Yemen by sea, initially looking to seize the imperative port city of Al-Hudaydah.
The fall of Al-Hudaydah would pave the way for a Saudi-led offensive towards the capital city Sanaa; therefore, Houthi forces hope to harass the Saudi Navy and obstruct their operations in the Red Sea through hit-and-run attacks.
