BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:15 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a counter-attack in the Deir Ezzor Governorate on Friday, targeting the Islamic State’s defenses at the local cemetery, Harabish District, and Al-Jafra village.
According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army made some gains in the cemetery on Friday; however, they were unable to lift the siege on the airport.
Battle footage of Friday’s offensive in Deir Ezzor was captured by Ruptly; it shows the Syrian Arab Army’s attack on the Islamic State’s positions west of the cemetery.
Despite the optimism leading up to the attack, the Syrian Arab Army will not be able to lift the siege on the airport until they recapture the Harabish Hills.
