BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:00 P.M.) – The Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a number of airstrikes over northwestern Syria on Thursday, as their warplanes targeted the positions of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) and the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP).
Among the targets for the Russian warplanes was the key town of Kabani, which is situated atop of the Jabal Al-Akrad region of Latakia, overlooking the Al-Ghaab Plain.
In a video shared on social media following the attack, the Russian airstrikes can be seen hitting the mountain stronghold for the jihadist rebel forces in the northeastern countryside of the Latakia Governorate.

In addition to hitting Kabani, the Russian Aerospace Forces also targeted the nearby town of Al-Sirmaniyeh, which is located just west of the Al-Ghaab Plain and south of Jisr Al-Shughour.
These airstrikes marked the second time this year that the Russian Aerospace Forces targeted Kabani and Al-Sirmaniyeh, as they previously conducted reconnaissance flights over the area before striking it.
