BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:05 P.M.) – The Free Syrian Army’s “Jaysh Maghawar Al-Thurah” has captured several sites from the Islamic State (ISIL) terror organization in the Homs Governorate’s Badia region recently, putting them some 70km south of Palmyra.

Among the sites captured by the Free Syrian Army in the Badiya region were the Dahlouz and Al-Halbeh areas, which were originally under the control of the Islamic State for almost two years.

Video footage of the Free Syrian Army advancing in the Badiya region was released by rebel activists on Saturday; it shows the FSA inside the captured towns, as well as many dead Islamic State fighters.

With their recent advance in the Badiya region, the Free Syrian Army is now on the brink of entering the Deir Ezzor Governorate for the first time since they were expelled by the Islamic State in 2014.

Armed with M-16 rifles and M-60 machine guns so we all know what they are…

Those are old weapons and the assault became famous at the Vienam war for its design – not its relyability in their first productions.

Both are produced in millions in many years, so its a big surprice where those soldiers are from.

And are they, as You say – as an amateur I see many weapons looking similar to them.

How does it matter how old or new they are? Of course they don’t get the tier1 equipment from the US backers. But nobody else than the US would equip a unit with such s**t gear so it is clear who(s puppet) they are. Thats what i said and its obvious too. Hahaha you are the amateur. No machine gun is looking similar to a M-60 and no matter how often it has been produced only the US and their puppets use this s**t gun. Talking about the M-16 it could be much around the stoner/AR-15-platform but it doesn’t matter… Read more »

The US FSA terrorists will be squeezed nicely between the SAA and the Iraqi Popular Mobilisation Units along the border areas. The US are again causing more chaos.

If some minor but hard FSA groups with or without US support can make chaos, You might go to bed and stay there.

They do a fine job cutting and making local chaos for the ISIS logistics. If You dont like FSA, You might instead enjoy, those might be killed instead of Your belowed troops from SAA.

Syria should call in its Iraqi allies to advance inside Syrian territory and secure all border crossings while initiating an advance towards Deir Ezzur to met their allies of the Syrian Arab army and relieve them of the encirclement.

Your allied in Iraq are knocked hard back by ISIS all the way until where SDF is. The Iraqian troops also are hard engaged for Mosul and the big more or less big desert areas there.

So You comment is far out as if You dont follow the realistic facts.

These are skirmishes, the question is why does IS let a couple thousand men advance like this? They will have to be attacked but then their role may be to usher in an intervention.

I have it like that too. I would say a defence for the advance could be the many hard figtings finally has giving ISIS a lack of troops as well as equipment. I would never advice SAA as an army even with russian and russian airsupport to make an easy cut finger EVER again. But even giving minus support the Baathistas, I like very much SAA engaging and taking some real heat and reduce their possible reinforment for Tabqa/Raqqa. Soon Tabqa is out and I kind of hear SDF will slice Raqqa some again. Most of the world would like… Read more »
