BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:30 P.M.) – Video confirmation (below) has emerged showing the presence of Syrian Army Republican Guard and Russian military units inside the strategic town of Tall Riffat in northern Aleppo province.

The footage appears amid tensions between Moscow and Ankara over the fate of Tal Riffat. Erdogan and high-ranking rebel commanders have repeatedly threatened to employ the full might of the Turkish-led coalition in northern Syria to take the town by force.

According to sources, Kurdish fighters and other US-backed militias (such as Jaysh al-Thuwar) withdrew from Tal Riffat about two weeks ago, handing over full control to Syrian and Russian security forces – this information however is not yet fully confirmed.

The video serves to prove that in addition to Russian soldiers, proper units of the Syrian Army – not just pro-government paramilitary groups – are present inside the highly-contested town.

Whether full control or other. The agreement to hoist the official Syrian flag over public buildings and town is sufficient to give the town SAA protection.

A mere legal step – that changes the official ownership and status.

p.s. Hope that the FSA does not know the difference between liberty and licence. If the FSA gets kicked no Turks are officially involved.

LOL. The principle of credible deniability.

Official control was handed over to the Republican Guard weeks ago, as I reported THEN already. However, SDF forces did not withdraw and will not withdraw under the agreements, which was and is a wise decision as the only forces who withdrew were the Russians and the Republican Guard forward units when Russia gave the erDog free reign in Afrin obviously expecting an invasion of Sheba also. It seems that Russia drew a line in the sand FOR NOW in regard of the hundreds of thousands of refugees who came over due to the evacuation of Afrin and are hosted… Read more »
