BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:04 A.M.) – Confirming vague reports that surfaced several days ago, Syrian news television has released a video confirming the discovery of three mass graves by the Syrian Arab Army near the strategic Abu Duhur military airbase – all of which contain the remains of dozens of fallen comrades.
Specifically, all of the bodies found are of Syrian troops who were tasked with defending the Abu Duhur airbase prior to militant groups capturing it in September 2015. These soldiers were promptly executed by jihadists after they were taken prisoner along with base’s fall.
So far 45 bodies have been discovered among the three graves and considering that 71 Syrian troops were reportedly killed in the mass execution carried out by Islamist groups, this means that more than half of the fallen have now been discovered.
Military-affiliated sources report that the uncovered bodies are to be transferred to Hama hospital for person identification and then delivered to their respective families.
