Several rebel fighters have been killed and wounded, 3 others arrested in an Army ambush in the southern province of Daraa.
The ambush took place in an area between Bosra and Wadi Al-Zaidi in the eastern countryside of Daraa after militants were spotted crossing the barrens.
“The area has been a regular route for the militants. Several landmines have been planted around and detonated when a group of Nusra-affiliated fighters were passing by”, a military source said.
“Firefight then broke out whereby our troops managed to kill most of the group. Three of them have been captured alive”, he added.
Tactical ambushes have been extensively used by the Syrian Army countrywide especially in open areas with challenging terrains where traditional warfare might be costly for the troops.
