BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:30 P.M.) – Opposition media has released footage captured by a resident of the town of Saraqib in Idlib Governorate reportedly showing Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) jihadists opening fire on a large gathering of protestors.
The video footage is said to be further evidence of an known mass shooting by HTS against demonstrating civilians in the town of Saraqib that took place yesterday and, according to an earlier report by Al-Masdar News, resulted in the death of three civilians including an opposition journalist.
The entire backdrop leading up to shooting occurred yesterday when HTS managed to forcibly eject Ahrar al-Sham Islamists from Saraqib and de facto conquer the town.
HTS and Ahrar al-Sham are currently engaged in a bitter and fast-moving war against one another across rebel-held Idlib and Hama that broke out not much longer than 36 hours ago.
All reports covering the shooting have clarified that the civilians were demonstrating against the occupation of their town by the Al-Qaeda-linked group
