US military vehicles were seen moving around Syrian’s Manbij, on Monday. The US troops are still patrolling the strategic city, near the Turkish border, despite US President Donald Trump’s recent announcement that troops will be pulled from the country.
For the time being, however, the US troops remain at their local base and continue their patrols.
The Syrian Army claimed to have entered the city on Friday, following a request form the Kurdish YPG to protect the location from a Turkish offensive.
Members of the legislative council in Manbij, however, denied the Syrian government forces’ alleged entrance in the city, on Saturday.
A source from the Syrian Arab Army told Al-Masdar News on Friday that the military was ordered to position themselves around Manbij and defend the city from any potential incursion by the Turkish-backed rebels.
Since their arrival at the outskirts of Manbij, the Syrian Arab Army has amassed a large force to protect the western and eastern axes of the city.
