BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:30 P.M.) – The U.S. will increase their pressure on Iran in Syria and the region, the U.S.’ envoy to Syria James Jeffrey told reporters during a phone conference on Wednesday.
Citing Jeffrey’s phone conversation, the Associated Press said that the U.S. diplomat claimed America will be financially pressuring Iran and also contesting their activities in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.
According to Jeffrey, the U.S. is “secondly contesting more actively Iran’s activities particularly in Iraq, Syria and Yemen.”
This is not the first time that Jeffrey has hinted that Washington is shifting their focus to combating Iran in Syria.
Last month, the U.S. diplomat told reporters that Washington is also inside Syria to get rid of the Iranian threat in the region.
