BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:20 P.M.) – The Reuters News Agency recently obtained details of a message that was sent to the rebel forces in southwest Syria from the U.S. government.
According to Reuters, the U.S. told the rebels to not rely on their forces intervening in southwest Syria, despite their previous warnings to the governments of Russia and Syria.
“You should not base your decisions on the assumption or expectation of a military intervention by us,” Reuters reported, quoting the message.
“We in the United States government understand the difficult conditions you are facing and still advise the Russians and the Syrian regime not to undertake a military measure that violates the zone,” the message also said.
This message from the U.S. to the rebels comes just a few days after the State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert once against sent a stern warning to the governments of Russia and Syria about launching their offensive operations in the southern part of the country.
