BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:30 A.M.) – A U.S. submarine armed with tomahawk cruise missiles allegedly entered the Mediterranean Sea this week, a Gibraltar publication reported on Friday.

According to the Gibraltar Chronicle, the U.S. Navy’s Los Angeles-class submarine U.S.S. Newport News  entered the port of Gibraltar at the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea.

The Gibraltar Chronicle said tge nuclear-powered fast attack submarine was spotted near the port on Thursday, with a Spanish customs boat being intercepted by a Gibraltar Defense Police vessel once it approached the US vessel.

The Gibraltar Chronicle cited the U.S. Department of Defense as saying that the submarine’s arrival was a “scheduled logistical visit.”

The last time a U.S. submarine entered the Mediterranean, it attacked the Syrian government’s positions in Damascus.

“a Spanish customs boat being intercepted by a Gibraltar Defense Police vessel once it approached the US vessel.”

Why would Gibraltar intercept a Spanish customs boat? Is Spain trying to prevent the US from entering the Med?

Gibraltar belongs to UK.
And there is no USS Newport News.

“The last time a U.S. submarine entered the Mediterranean, it attacked the Syrian government’s positions in Damascus.” => ROFL! There is at least one US fleet cruising in the Mediterranean sea permanently, sometimes even two. Each is escorted by no less than 3 Los Angeles-class or Virginia-class attack submarines. If Yanks were planning a serious cruise missile attack, 4 of the giant Ohio-class subs have been converted from carrying 24 Trident-II nuclear ballistic missiles (SLBM) into carrying 154 Tomahawk SLCM, thus around what two destroyers of the Arleigh Burke class can carry. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Los_Angeles-class_submarines No USS Newport News 😉 I smell… Read more »

Yes daeshbags. (odd name) No doubt members of the British Foreign Office dream of sitting on the veranda in Aden being served tea by Yemeni servants watching British freighters fueled by Iranian Oil carry trash to India.
Those were the days.

ROFL, there is NO USS Newport News in the Los Angeles-class, not even in the US-Navy.
In fact, Newport-News is the name of the Shipyard where most of US naval vessels are built.
The shipyards belong to Northrop-Grumann.

Oooops, yeah, sorry, I missed the SSN-750 on the lists… They really have a shïtload of crappy L.A. class. Pfff, they can’t even shoot Mica-VL SAMs like ours… I thought that it had been decommissioned following the radioactive leaks after the 2007 collision… They surely change the team on every port of call to avoid them getting more than 3 REMs in 3 months or 5 REMs into a year… US militaries are really expandable… “you are really irritating me” => I hope so! I’m the itching part of your consciousness you refuse to listen to, preferring your comfy delusion… Read more »
