BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:00 P.M.) – The current situation in Syria’s Eastern Ghouta demonstrates the idea of the de-escalation zone has failed, US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in a briefing on Thursday.

“So much for this de-escalation zone [Eastern Ghouta]. They have starved people there, they have prevented humanitarian aid from getting in. We have seen innocent civilians killed,” Nauert told reporters. “That is certainly no de-escalation zone… It shows what a farce this de-escalation zone has become.”

Earlier, Heather Nauert alleged that Damascus airforces conducted airstrikes in Eastern Ghouta, that had claimed lives of 100 civilians for the last 48 hours.

Eastern Ghouta is one of four Syrian de-escalation zones created during the Astana Syrian reconciliation talks, with Russia, Iran and Turkey serving as guarantors of the de-escalation agreements. The area is dominated by several terrorist organisations, which Syrian government forces have been conducting military operation against for several days.

On Wednesday, Russian Defence Ministry reported that appeals to illegal armed groups to cease resistance and surrender arms were unsuccessful, saying that the negotiations for the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the region have been derailed.

One thing, Ms Nauert, that has got into East Ghouta is clearly weapons. Who supplied them? In the meantime have you not noticed the repeated shelling of the civilian areas of Damascus by these barbarous thugs? Parents there have. No wonder the truce has degenerated into a farce. The Syrian government has repeatedly offered a truce and free passage in exchange for an end to hostilities. All have been refused by the jihadis, even now. The Syrian Army is quite rightly going to expunge this nest of fanatical jihadi psychopaths. And all reasonable people in the world will cheer. You’re… Read more »

Israelis provide water and electricity to the Palestinians and are paid with pogroms (intifada) and rockets… Maybe should they cut the water and the electricity and begin to treat PA/PLO/Fatah/PFLP and Hamas the same way Dr.Assad does with HTS, ISIS and other cockroaches. Maybe Israel needs a far left leader like Trotsky : he’d have finished the roaches for long.
With someone like Trotsky, Palestinians would long be back in “Arab-Palestine” (Jordan) or… they’d be dead. Netanyahu is really a p***y. Assad has more b***s to do what has to be done.

And here we go with the same bullshit narrative as for Aleppo 18 months ago!
If civilians are trapped in East Goutha, they’re used as human shields by al-Qaeda and other shithadists or they’re the families of the terrorists.
