BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:20 A.M.) – The U.S. special forces conducted a raid inside of the provincial capital of Raqqa on Sunday, local activists reported from the city.
According to the reports, the U.S. special forces raised a home inside the Al-Mashlab District; they would arrest on person during the operation.
No further details were released regarding the operation.
Raqqa city has been under the control of the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) since they captured the provincial capital from the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) in 2017.
Since the Islamic State’s expulsion from Raqqa, the Syrian Democratic Forces have attempted to clear the terrorist group’s sleeper cells from the city.
The Islamic State sleeper cells often target the Syrian Democratic Forces inside of Raqqa; this has prompted them to carry out several combing operations to clear the terrorists from the city.
