BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:25 P.M.) – US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo took issue with Russia’s plans to supply Syria with the S-300 missile system at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday.
“We’re trying to find every place we can where there’s common ground where we can work with the Russians,” he said.
“We’re finding lots of places where they’re working against American interests and we will hold them accountable for so doing.”
Pompeo also expressed frustration with Turkey about the expected release of US Pastor Andrew Brunson, saying: “He could be released this month, he should have been released last month, and he should be released today, in fact. We’ve talked to the Turks, they know the expectation.”
Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the UN, also spoke at the press conference, denying that the cabinet discussed impeaching President Donald Trump.
