Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that the US-led coalition has again carried out strikes using white phosphorus ammunition in Syria, speaking at her weekly briefing in Moscow on Thursday.
“Last week we spoke about 50 corpses that have been found in the south of Hajin, al-Shifa village. Last weekend in al-Bukan village 40 people died, mostly women and children, as a result of the next air strike,” the spokesperson said, adding that according to Syrian sources “the coalition once again used white phosphorus ammunition.”
Zakharova also stated that militants are being trained at the US military base located near in the strategically important city of Al-Tanf, near the borders of Syria, Iraq and Jordan.
Going on to discuss the OPCW’s (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) decision to change its mandate and grant the Technical Secretariat the right to assign blame for chemical weapons use, the spokesperson said that it “deepens the split between the member-countries of this once successful organisation.”
