DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:35 P.M.) – At least 18 people were brutally killed, scores others injured when US warplanes bombed a school used as a shelter by refugees in the southern countryside of Hasakah province.
The victims, mostly women and children, include some Iraqis who fled the atrocities of the Islamic State in neighboring Iraq.
According to local sources, the death toll will most likely rise as dozens are still trapped under rubbles with almost zero chance to be rescued.
A report published recently by the Amnesty General found that ” many coalition attacks that killed and injured civilians and destroyed homes and infrastructure violated international humanitarian law”.
Testimonies included in the detailed ” WAR OF ANNIHILATION”: DEVASTATING TOLL ON CIVILIANS, RAQQA – SYRIA” report contradict the coalition’s claim that its forces had taken the necessary precautions to minimize civilian casualties.
