The United States has not allowed the transport convoys dispatched to evacuate refugees from the Rukban camp to pass through the Al-Tanf zone controlled by US troops, Lieutenant General Sergei Solomatin, the chief of the Russian Center for reconciliation of the conflicting sides in Syria, told reporters on Saturday.

“Despite the fact that the authorities of the Syrian Arab Republic have successfully finished all preparations for refugees’ evacuation from the Rukban camp to the places of pre-war residence, the US turned down a joint request of the Russian and Syrian inter-departmental coordination centers for relocation and accommodation of refuges to allow the transport convoys into the Al-Tanf zone,” Solomatin said.

On Friday, buses were sent to the Djleb checkpoint to evacuate refugees from the Rukban camp to their permanent residence places in the settlements of Al Khalidiyah, Al-Amarah, Palmyra, Mhin, Al Karyatein, and the outskirts of Damascus, Homs and Aleppo.

The Rukban camp is located in the Al-Tanf security zone, home to a US military base. Militants from armed opposition groups have blocked access to the security zone.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Rukban camp is currently hosting about 40,000 people, mostly women and children. Several inhabitants have died in the camp due to dire conditions.

The US need the camp to recruit terrorist mercenaries and to scrounge UN aid for them.

and as human shields for their tame terrorists.

AFAIK, the groups US founded in the area haven’t fought SAA, actually, it’s even stipulated in their contract they MUST NOT attack Syrian regular forces.

They were recruited to oust ISIS. Wasn’t it the case, there’d been ZERO funding voted by congress as paying mercenaries to attack a country is illegal under both US ans int’l laws.

Oh, CIA did such things, but NOT with US tax-payers’ money, and it’s still illegal. e.g. think about the Iran-Gate : arms and cocaine trafficking.

@Daeshbags-Sux, how do You know: that it is “stipulated in their contract they MUST NOT attack Syrian regular forces.”

Actually they attacked Syrian forces that legally entered the area.

Now I don’t think Yanks need human shields : The Centurion C-RAM (truck mounted Phalanx CIWS), Patriot PAC-3/PAAC-4 and now Iron-Dome can intercept near anything coming from above.

While SVBIEDs don’t stand a chance with Javelin ATGM.
The goal behind it is a bit different than human shields.

It’s a leverage on Assad : You want al-Tanf back? We can stay forever, just like Israelis in Golan, so… Cut ties with Iran and Hellbollah then get al-Tanf back.

Wounded and injured members of ISIS at Israeli hospitals. I’m not surprised, given the fact that they have a common god.

@Daeshbags-Sux, Syria is an independent nation what right do the US have to get leverage against Iran by occupying Syrian soil?

@Daeshbags-Sux, quite right about military facts. But that does not make occupation legal.

And those they recruited as militia in al-Tanf didn’t engaed in fights against SAA but in self defence… and soon came a F-15, F-16, F-18 or A-10 to provide air support, so SAA was in trouble engaging ’em.

These were hired solely for the purpose to cleanse the area from ISIS. Soo what you said is NOT the game Yanks are playing and which I explain while answering Dadda.

@Daeshbags-Sux, You wrote grammatically wrong.

The mercenaries had (originally) been hired against IS. But the IS has been cleared from around there (on the SAA side) long ago. Now they are mercenaries for occupying forces. And US need the camp to recruit these terrorist mercenaries and to scrounge UN aid for them. Consequently we still have free lance ruffians in the camp and those in Al Tanf in US employment.

p.s. There were several brushes between the mercenaries and government forces. You have no details on their contracts. You just assume what You write.

@Daeshbags-Sux, read UN Charter and the US acted against UN’s A/RES/2625(XXV).

@Daeshbags-Suxm there was no US self defense. The US are the trespassers. You can not legally call part of the foreign country off limits for the country’s government forces. The SAA did not attack the Al Tanf forces but wanted to enter the area. Then they were, as You admitted, attacked by the US paid forces because You say Yourself: F-15, F-16, F-18 or A-10 came to provide air support – during this attack. The SAA was not in trouble for engaging them but the SAA was attacked for entering the area.

This all about blocking trade and alliance movement from Iran and Iraq through the Al Tanf area into Syria.

@George King, yes some claimed that. But it is a legacy claim from before the SAA reached the Iraqi border further East near the Euphrates. And if You look at the map now Tanf does not block the roads from Iraq to the Syrian economic center and Aleppo. And it only blocks the shortest way from Damascus to Baghdad.

@Daeshbags-Sux, yes, because the able bodied men, husbands and fathers, are mercenaries and terrorists.
