DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:35 P.M.) – Spokesman of the US-led coalition, Colonel John Dorrian, denied a claim made by the Syrian government that coalition airstrikes bombed a chemical depot for the Islamic State in the eastern Syrian city of Deir Ezzor.
“The Syrian claim is incorrect and likely intentional misinformation,” Colonel Dorrian told Reuters.
In a related context, the Russian Ministry of Defense said it has dispatched drones to probe on the incident.
“We have no information of so far about victims killed in an airstrike near Deir Ezzor. Three Russian drones have been sent to follow up the situation, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, spokesman of the Russian MoD, said.
The Syrian Defense Ministry has issued an official statement earlier today accusing the US coalition of targeting a chemical depot for the terror group which resulted in the death of hundreds of militants as well as civilian.
