Russian President Putin held a joint press conference with his Turkish and Iranian counterparts Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hassan Rouhani after trilateral discussions on the Syrian settlement in Sochi on Thursday.

Putin said that the presidents agreed to continue the Astana format talks, and also “agreed to work together to promote the early launch of the constitutional committee.”

Rouhani stated that according to Iranian information, the US plans “to continue interfering in the domestic affairs in Syria regardless of how many American boots remain on the Syrian ground.”

“The illegal, unlawful and illegitimate interference by the Zionist regime in Syria also is a matter of concern for Syrians and for other countries in the region,” the Iranian leader added.

Turkish President Erdogan on his part said that more than three million Syrian refugees are currently in Turkey.

“Turkey has the most refugees of any country in the world, in these difficult times we have helped our brothers, no matter what their religious or ethnic background,” he said.

Ah, I love Rouhanni’s double standards : He’s not speaking about his regime’s own interference in others’ domestic affairs : – When Iranian Quds-Force sent a sleeper-cell to blow a half a kilo of TATP explosives in France last June and were caught by Belgian police on their way to the NCRI (National Council of Resistance of Iran) annual meeting in Villepinte with ‘just’ 25,000 people in, including many politicians from all around the world. TATP+fuse were provided by Assadollah Assadi, the 3rd counsellor of Iranian embassy in Austria, he was arrested in Germany while driving back to Austria. –… Read more »

Rouhani is obviously learning from USA. If I make a list with examples of the double standards implemented by USA your list would seems like nothing compared with the US-double standards list…

Who said I liked US double-standards? I’m far from being a fanboy for their foreign policy… Let’s say that, from a honnest POV, with them, there is good, there is bad and there is ugly… Now, let’s quote Rouhanni : “Amahdinejad was a wolf into wolf clothes, let me be a wolf into sheep clothes”. Iran’s nuke-chief confessed on Jan. 24th 2019 that they deliberately cheated JCPOA under Khamenei’s personal orders, so let us not be naive about their intentions : you don’t test a ballistic missiles with 3 MIRVs when you don’t consider fitting nuclear warhead in : nobody… Read more »
