BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:00 A.M.) – The US has claimed that it does its best to reduce civilian causalities in ISIS-held Raqqa before conducting airstrikes by air dropping leaflets.
The leaflets state that “[ISIS] is using boats and ferries to transport weapons and fighters. Do not use ferries or boats, air strikes are coming.”
“As our partner forces prepare to liberate Raqqah, the Coalition routinely drops leaflets as an effective means of communicating messages to civilians who are trapped in the city and subject to the barbaric rule of ISIS,” the spokesperson said.
The activist group Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently corroborated this claim.
The airstrikes come as the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces begin to surround the de facto capital of the terrorist group.
