BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:30 A.M.) – The US-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) launched an offensive in the eastern countryside of the Al-Sweida Governorate, Wednesday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) position near the Zuluf Dam and Al-Qal’at area.
Capitalizing on the US’ attack against the Syrian Arab Army near Al-Tanf, the Free Syrian Army attempted to infiltrate the defenses of the government forces on Wednesday morning.
Not only would this assault fail, but the Free Syrian Army would ultimately lose many military personnel and equipment while retreating across this desert region of the Al-Sweida Governorate.
According to a military source in Al-Sweida, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies repelled all of the Free Syrian Army’s attacks, suffering little losses in the process.
Since losing much of eastern Al-Sweida, the Free Syrian Army has launched several desperate attacks to regain the territory; however, the government forces have proven to strong in this region.
