The U.S. backed “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) continued their advance towards the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) stronghold of Menbeij on Saturday, capturing the strategic hilltop of Umm Al-Siraj from the aforementioned terrorist group.
According to the YPG’s media wing, the Syrian Democratic Forces are advancing towards Menbeij from two different axes, leaving them within 8 km of the city’s eastern flank.
In addition to their advance from the eastern flank, the Syrian Democratic Forces have killed over 100 Islamic State terrorists in the last 5 days.
With the Al-Jat Bridge destroyed by the U.S. Coalition, the Islamic State forces are currently cutoff from all roads between Jarabulus and Menbeij.
Local activists claim that 60% of the soldiers participating in this offensive are Arabs from Menbeij, making this a personal battle for these men.
